Horley Town F.C.

On a very cold night at the new defence the Town put on a brave display against Oakwood in the Suburban League (South).

Town had John Elred back, Chris Weller and Anthony Jupp back after his recent wedding and honeymoon.Town started the better and after some good movement on the right they took the lead in the 20th minute through Matt Scutter.With 15 left in the half Stewart Devlin in the Horley goal pulled of a good save diving to his left.Oakwood then picked up a booking with 12 left to play.With 11 left a free kick form Chris Weller saw John Eldred have a snap shot which went just over the cross bar.With 3 minutes left John Eldred put Matt Scutter through and his shot beat the Oakwood keeper but bounced back and to safety of the upright. Matt Scutter then broke again and shot just wide of the upright. In the last minute Oakwood broke and shot and hit the cross bar.Horley went in at half time one nil up. In the second half Matt again broke through and shot but the keeper did well tipping the ball round the post for a corner.Oakwood then broke free and shot but the ball was flicked over the cross bar for a corner.In the 54th minute Matt Scutter set John Eldred up with a great cross ball which John Eldred fired into the net to put Town two nil up.In the 6oth minute Oakwood broke on the right had side and shot and scored to make it two one.Next Nathan Jupp was replaced up front with Mark Batra.Town then picked up a couple of booking but hung on to the final whistle to win two one and collect all three points.
